Advanced Gauged Brickwork
This course follows on from the Introduction to Gauged Brickwork. In this course the student will examine gauged arch construction, studying by way of classroom and workshop activities: Terminology, Geometry, Setting-out a flat and camber arch, Establishing templates for voussoirs, Selecting, preparing and cutting rubbers to voussoirs. Detailed course notes written by the tutor underpin the lectures and practical sessions.
Learning outcomes:

To increase knowledge of the many varied aspects of gauged brickwork at an advanced level
To develop the knowledge base and cutting & rubbing skills of the student to much higher level and increase further his craft status
To further develop awareness and help the students understanding and promote the conservation aspects of this class of work.
Note : The Introduction to Gauged Brickwork course is a pre-requisite to the Advanced Gauged Brickwork course.
