In a packed Carpenters’ Hall, in the City of London on the 5th of March, 2020, after a sumptuous dinner, Gerard was honoured by The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers by being presented with the award of ‘Master Craftsman Heritage Bricklayer’.
The official programme stated “This year we are delighted to recognise an individual whose has met the stringent criteria” within the formal award made by ‘The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers, Crafts Award Committee’; and who have affirmed recognition of:-
“…advancing his skills beyond the measure of conventional qualifications, and also seen as a mentor and role model for those following in his footsteps…and Gerard is acknowledged and respected as the foremost Master of his craft who has set the highest benchmarks in every aspect of his practical and academic works… “
Gerard was then invited to come forward to receive the congratulations of the Company’s Master, Dr Michel Saminaden, the award of a framed certificate and engraved medal by Lt. Col Mark Stephenson RE, and to sign this formal declaration in the official register of this historic Livery Company: that received its Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1568.
